These pears are inspired by a Jamie Oliver recipe. I added more spice, less water and less sugar to get a more intense chai flavoring into the pears. If you love sour and tangy this version is for you! Sweet and tangy these pears are perfect on a cool autumn evening served alone or with a dollop of ricotta cheese.

Instructions
In a pot large enough to hold all 6 pears in a single layer, snug together, zest both the lemon and orange into the pot. Add hot water and sugar stir to dissolve the sugar.
Add in spices, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods and star anise. Place pears into sugar spice liquid.
Juice both the orange and lemon over the pears. Cover the pot with a lid and simmer over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes or until pears are soft but not falling apart.
Place a single pear into each bowl and pour syrup over pears making sure to evenly distribute the citrus zest. Serve warm!
Recipe Notes
These pears are rich, sweet and sour! They pair perfectly with a spoonful of ricotta or cottage cheese.
